Letizia Perillo is Full Professor, Head of the Department of Multidisciplinary Medical-Surgical and Dental Specialties, Head of the Orthodontic Unit at the Multidisciplinary Department of Medical-Surgical and Dental Specialties of the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli in Naples, Italy.
She is also Visiting Professor at the University of Alexandria, Egypt, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, USA.
She is Past Dean of the School of Dentistry, Past Chair of NEBEOP Postgraduate Orthodontic Program, Past President of the Italian Society of Orthodontics (SIDO), and the Mediterranean Orthodontic Integration Project (MOIP).
Currently, she is a member of the 2020–25 Executive Committee of the World Federation of Orthodontists (WFO), President-Elect of the WFO (2025–30), and Chair of the International Orthodontic Congress (IOC) in 2030.
She is also a member of the AAO, EHASO, EOS, SIDO, MOIP, SIOCMF, and the Charles H. Tweed Foundation, and serves on the Editorial Board of several scientific journals.
Prof. Perillo graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1986 and specialized in Orthodontics in 1989 at the University of Naples Federico II. She completed her orthodontic training with a fellowship at the University of Michigan in 1993 and obtained a Ph.D. in Interceptive Orthodontics at the University of Florence in 1997.
She is the author of about 300 scientific publications, as well as 9 books and 10 book chapters. She has been an invited speaker at international congresses in more than 30 countries.
Her main research topics are early treatment, non-extraction treatment, dentofacial orthopaedics, cleft lip and palate, and genetics.
